  • EGR Poker Awards - 888 Poker Named Operator of the Year

Long running online poker and online casino operator 888 Poker has recently scooped the main award at the eGaming Review Operator Awards ceremony. Held in London, this event is the seventh such annual affair and 888 was something of a shoe in for the 2011 award.

In what has been a turbulent year for the online poker industry, notable names such as Full Tilt Poker have fallen by the wayside following the fallout from Black Friday in the USA while others such as 888 Poker and sites which concentrate on non-USA gaming have seen their fortunes improving. 888 has increased the amount it's players are spending at the site by 122% and this is credited to a number of factors.

888 was the first website to introduce optional webcam technology to it's games and at the same time revamped the user experience to allow beginners a less nerve-wracking time when starting on their poker career. 3D graphics have been developed and integrated into what is now a more social experience. 888 Poker was also short-listed for a number of other awards which demonstrate the strength of the brand; Affiliate Programme of the Year, Casino Operator of the Year, Innovation in Gaming, Poker Operator of the Year, Operator of the Year and Marketing Campaign of the Year.

A spokesman for 888 said that "winning the EGR Poker Operator of the Year is a great honour and reflection of a phenomenal year for 888poker. We are committed to continuously enhance the playability at 888poker in order to give our consumers a poker offering that meets their needs, that's intuitive, simple and stands out from the crowd."
