How to play Roulette

Roulette is an exciting, entertaining, as well as one of the oldest gambling games and with some luck it is possible to cash in some winnings.

The game takes place at the Roulette table, where usually up to eight people are playing against the House (the Casino) which is represented by the Dealer, who is responsible for the wagers, payouts and the Roulette Wheel. There are two Roulette versions – the European wheel has the numbers 1 to 36 and 0 whereas the American variety has an additional double zero.

Usually, you purchase the colored Roulette chips at the table from the Dealer. Each player will have a different color of Roulette chips with the value imprinted on them. The various colors should help the dealer for orientation – so that he/she knows who is playing with which color. If you decide to leave the table make sure that you exchange the Roulette chips into usual Casino chips which you can use at any other game.

The actual aim of the game is to foresee on which number the white ball is going to end up in the Roulette wheel. The game starts after every player has placed his/her bet on the table layout. Before the dealer drops the white ball into the spinning Roulette wheel, he/she will announce that no more bets are possible. After that you just have to wait in which slot the ball is going to remain. The probability that the ball is going to hit one particular number (out of the 37 or 38) is for each number equally high. As soon as the ball drops on one of the slots, the dealer announces the winning number and color. Then the dealer pulls in the lost bets and hands over the winnings.

If you placed your bet on the lucky number or color then you will get a multiple of your initial bet. If you want to know how much money you will get for every bet have a look at the Betting list below. However, if you have not been so lucky with your forecast you will loose your bet.

Zero

If the zero comes up and you have bet on the simple chances then you will not loose everything, only the half of your bet. Simple chances include all the red (Rouge), black (Noir), even (Pair), uneven (Impair) numbers as well as the numbers from 1 to 18 (Manque) and 19 to 36 (Passe). However, you also have the possibility to put your bets “into prison” (en prison). This means that you have an additional chance of winning and if the number in the next spin covers the prior bet than your bet is released from prison. Keep in mind that this rule applies exclusively to the bets with simple chances.

The bets with other chances than simple will be lost completely (except you placed your bet onto the Zero).
